Dirty Martini Debut – Our Safari 924 at the Porsche 924 Owners Club National Rally

Our 924 Safari Werks finally made its debut at the Porsche 924 Owners Club National Rally, held at the Coventry Transport Museum on 13th April – and what a cracking first outing it was!

This was my first time attending a club event with the car itself. In 2024, we had hoped to make it to Donington Historic, but life got in the way – so the Cayman stood in and held its own amongst the lineup of 924s. But this time, it was all about the Dirty Martini.

The reaction? Let’s say we brought a bit of colour and plenty of conversation to the car park. There were a few raised eyebrows – I’m sure one or two purists choked on their lattes when I rolled in with a rally-inspired wrap – but overall, the vibe was welcoming and full of genuine interest.

If you’re keeping a 924 alive and on the road, that’s what matters most. The club itself is a great bunch – proper enthusiasts with serious knowledge and a love for this underrated Porsche.

It was also brilliant to see a younger owners group growing within the club, which bodes well for the future of the 924 community. You can really feel the passion behind this car – and rightly so, they're great cars and at the affordable end of classic Porsche ownership.

Over the weekend, I covered just shy of 500 miles and the 924 didn’t miss a beat. For a car that’s had quite the transformation recently, that’s a testament to both the original build quality and the love that’s gone into getting it to this point.
