What better way to break in a project car than a Road Trip!

We took a five and half hour journey from Carmarthen to Manchester (with no refreshment trolley!) and then on to Chorley to collect the car from David Unsworth at White Bear Garage in Adlington.

Wow… the first time I’d seen it put back together, stunning and no need to have doubted the colour choice.

An overnight in Manchester with some quiet underground parking near to the hotel gave rise to an early start on Saturday and the opportunity to get some pictures of the car against some landmarks of the city before the traffic got busy.

Then, we nervously we headed for the Welsh border.

Our first stop was coffee at the Rhug Estate Farm Shop before steering the 911 towards Bala and then down the A494 past the Cross Foxes Hotel and on the epic stretch of the A487 to Machynlleth.

Arriving in Machynlleth on carnival weekend was a nice surprise and an opportunity to browse the shops and stock up on lunch at the fantastic Blasau Deli.

Next destination was set for the Elan Valley Hotel which surprisingly delivered some unplanned shopping and Mrs Fyfe treating herself to a new handbag.

We arrived home, having covered 260 miles with little more than a loose trim to contend with. We cracked open a couple of well-deserved cold ones and admired the Fjord Green 40th parked on the front lawn and discussed the real adventure scheduled for September.
