A staple in the local car events calendar has to be the #officialvhra #hotrods at #pendine
We started the day with the local Porsche guys at PieWerks HQ; sausage baps (egg and mushroom for the veggies) and coffee, followed by a leisurely convoy down to Pendine for the event at 11am.
The organisers #pendinecommunitycouncil did another sterling job this year of parking the classics and “vehicles of interest” at the top of the sands - we were shocked at how busy it was so early, as this area was nearly full when we got there.
If I’m being critical, there’s not really a huge amount to see when it comes to the racing; the pit and race passes are always sold out before the event, though you can get quite close to the pits and see the vehicles preparing or coming back from their run through the fencing.
For us and most other visitors, the main event has to be the car park, and having attended previous years, this seems to be growing year-on-year… from modern classics to pre-war vehicles, Americans to air-cooleds and even the odd super car!
Expecting to be there for a couple of hours, we didn’t leave until late afternoon – plenty of ice-cream and eateries, beers for the passengers, AFs for the drivers and at £5 per car for beach parking, this has to be the best value car show of the year!
