The 2025 motorsport calendar officially roared into action last weekend with Race Retro at Stoneleigh Park—and this year, the weather played nice! No downpours, just a fantastic weekend packed with live track action, an incredible auction, and a bustling trade village.
For me, the week started on Wednesday—setup day. This is often my favourite part of any event, getting a glimpse behind the curtain before the crowds arrive. I caught up with the team at Iconic Auctioneers as a steady stream of weekend auction lots rolled in. Some had real racing pedigree, while others were ultra-rare road cars, each with a story to tell.
By Sunday, I was back as a paying customer, and the day couldn’t have started better. The first car I spotted on the walk from the car park? A rally-prepped early ‘60s Beetle. These things get everywhere! It instantly brought to mind Francis Tuthill, who campaigned one back in the day—maybe he was out for a spin?

The auction itself was a success, with all three of our lots finding new homes, both through online and in-person bidding. It’s always great to see the work we put into these pieces paying off.
No motorsport event is complete without a hunt through the auto-jumble, but this time, treasure eluded me. That said, I had a great chat with the team at Southbound Trimmers about our upcoming Porsche 356 Coupe project—exciting things ahead!
Oh, and of course, no trip to any car show is complete without a proper pie.
Priorities, right? 🥧
